Don's Show & Tell

Pasta Math Experiments

Once upon a time, humanity conceived of the Klein bottle. Much like monkeys at a typewriter eventually producing Shakespeare's complete works, it has since only been a matter of more time before the culinary arts bend themselves to entropy and the topologies where we might find insides become outsides and then insides again.

I am not so bold to claim as first among men of what we might call Klein bottle Cuisine. It is for posterity to improve upon that you find my efforts recorded. Here lies a childhood nostalgia of the humble cheese and potato perogi:

Butter, Bacon, and Onion

Butter, bacon, and onion will forgive much with any dish. Cooking from a position of strength sets up success.

Cookie cutter precision
Klein bottle cheating

The dough cap on the base of the bottom clamshell contains the stuffing within the Klein bottle Perogi to prevent it from dissolving when boiled.

Bottom clamshell

The bottom clamshell of the Klein Bottle Perogi.

Top clamshell

The upper clamshell of the Klein bottle perogi with two holes to allow the surface to bend through itself.

Bendy shell

The bendy part of the Klein Bottle Perogi.

Balancing act
Spoon work

An offset between the clamshells of the probably would have helped. Less stuffing would facilitate the process; less stuffing is also sinful.

Last pinch

The bendy part which has to be filled with stuffing while it is folded into the opening of the larger mass of the Klein Bottle Perogi.

So beautiful

The pinch lines mark the two clamshells and the bendy part of the Klein Bottle Perogi.
